TOP 10 European Hydroenergy Generation in February 2022

Norway is the largest country in Europe for hydropower.
According to the statistics of Chaodian Think Tank, in February 2022, the total power generation of TOP10 countries in Europe with hydropower generation was 31.3TWh (1TWh=1000GWh), and the TOP10 countries accounted for 91.8% of the total hydropower generation in Europe that month.
Norway’s hydropower generation in February 2022 was 8.2TWh, accounting for 33.1% of Europe’s hydropower generation in that month.
Norway is the sixth largest hydroelectric generating country in the world and the largest hydroelectric generating country in Europe. There are many mountains and valleys in the country, and there are abundant water resources. There are nearly 1,000 hydropower stations in the territory, and 96% of the domestic power supply comes from hydropower.
Hydropower is not only enough for the whole people to use, but it is often surplus, and electricity will be exported to neighboring countries, such as Sweden and Denmark.
Sweden, which ranks second, has a hydropower generation capacity of 5.9TWh in February 2022, accounting for 17.3% of Europe’s hydropower generation capacity in that month. It has formed a cooperation with Norway, and the two complement each other in hydropower generation.
The third is France’s 3.7TWh. In order to alleviate the shortage of energy supply and promote the demand of renewable energy, the development of offshore wind power projects has become one of the key directions of France’s energy transformation. According to the “France 2030” investment plan, France will invest 300 million euros in special funds for the development of floating offshore wind power in the future, and set a target of 18GW of available offshore wind power capacity in 2035.
